Job Responsibilities
Primary Farm Duties
- Operate tractors and other farm machinery for plowing, planting, watering and harvesting.
- Prepare fields for planting by performing manual labor such as shoveling, hoeing weeds and applying spot treatments to control unwanted vegetation.
- Carry out watering and irrigation responsibilities to ensure crops receive adequate moisture.
- Apply fertilizers and other soil treatments to support plant health.
- Assist in crop maintenance and harvesting including hand-cutting and gathering sugarcane.
- Load and unload farm trucks with harvested crops and supplies.
- Engage in farm infrastructure maintenance including repairing farm roads, levees and storage facilities.
- Participate in general labor tasks such as clearing debris and maintaining the cleanliness of the farm.
Crawfish Farming Responsibilities
- Manually cut fish bait and distribute it into traps.
- Set, monitor and retrieve crawfish traps in water bodies.
- Clean and grade crawfish to prepare them for shipment.
- Repair damaged crawfish traps and construct new ones as needed.
- Maintain the pond environment by removing debris, raking or burning shucks to allow for future crop regrowth.
- Ensure compliance with erosion control regulations by installing protective structures using the necessary equipment.

- Assist in repairing and maintaining farm machinery including tractors, trucks and crawfish processing equipment.
